Williams Lake in Waterford, Michigan was named for Ferdinand Williams, who in 1829, was to settle on the lake that would later bear his family name.
Ferdinand settled on the western shore of the lake, where he built a log cabin. His property today is 2590 N Williams Lake Road.
Ferdinand was the son of John R Williams, the first mayor of Detroit.
