Younger son of Thomas Stanley, Esq., and Elizabeth Langton, grandson of Sir John Stanley and Isabel Lathom, and Ralph Langton.

Husband of Eleanor Sutton, the daughter of Sir John Sutton of Dudley and Elizabeth de Berkeley, widow of Sir Henry Beaumont who died 16 Nov 1471.They had one son and one daughter, John and Anne, the wife of John Wolseley.

George is buried in a tomb with a figure apparently commemorating penitence for an unknown sin.
