Obituary for James Elmer Stottlemyer:

James Elmer Stottlemyer, son of Aaron and Amanda Stottlemyer was born near Hagerstown, Maryland, December 4, 1869, and his spirit took departure from his body at Lapel, March 11th 1937, when he was 67 years 3 months and 7 days of age.

He came to Indiana with his parents when but a small boy. On August 22nd, 1893 he was united in marriage to Ada Commons. To the home thus formed was born nine children: Alta Anderson, Sharley Hersberger, Raymond, Rosa Irwin, George, William, Lauretta Ehman, Mary Dellinger. Martha having preceded him in death.

Mr. Stottlemyer was a wonderful husband, father, and neighbor and a good Christian man and always when health permitted him to be found in a house of worship on Sunday. He was the eldest of ten and the second called in death.

He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
