Mrs. Schinke was preceded in death by her husband, M. W. Schinke, and her grandson, Lt. Frank Carnley, USAF.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan R. Schinke of Diboll, daughter and son-in-law, Julia Ann Harrott and Bill Mills; one grandson; three great-grandchildren; one nephew and two nieces.
Mrs. Schinke was born in Diboll on April 19, 1906, to W. M. and Julia Bond Ashford. Mr. Ashford was one of the founders of Southern Pine Lumber Company, now Temple-Inland.
A 1924 graduate of Diboll High School, Mrs. Schinke graduated from the College of Industrial Arts (now Texas Women's University) in Denton in 1929. She received her Master of Arts degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and did further post-graduate work at the University of Mexico.
She was a Spanish and English teacher and was the first librarian for Diboll schools, retiring from that position in 1971. Board member emeritus for T.L.L. Temple Library, Diboll, she was instrumental in founding the library and was an active board member for many years.
Honorary pallbearers will be Arthur Temple, Jr., Honorable John Hannah, Jr., James A. Pearce and W. D. Winston.
Memorials may be made to the T.L.L. Temple Memorial Library or Hospice in The Pines.
