Anna P. Bivens, 100, died Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home in Etowah.

A native and lifelong resident of McMinn County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Clifton and Mary Elizabeth Burris Stansberry, and was preceded in death by her husband, Judson Holt Bivens Sr., on Feb. 14, 1989; one son, Judson Holt Bivens Jr. on Oct. 31, 1998; one daughter-in-law, Mary Lee Hemmings Bivens; one grandson, DeWayne Wagoner; and two sisters, Vallie Trotter and Edna Givens. She was the oldest member of Wesleyanna United Methodist Church, and was a former employee of Sportswear Clothing Company in Etowah.

Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Bronce Henderson of Athens; one grandson and wife, Tommy and Tammy Henderson of Athens; one granddaughter-in-law, Tami Wagoner; great-grandchildren and spouses, Crystal and Charlie Henderson, Angie Rymer, Michael Napier, April and Travis Jennings, Ashley Wagoner, Stephanie Rymer, D.J. Wagoner and Amanda Wagoner; two great-great-grandchildren, Chase and Carter Henderson; and several nieces, nephews and friends.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home with the Rev. Wendell Puett and the Rev. John Smith officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday in McMinn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Michael Napier, Travis Jennings, Charlie Henderson, Tommy Henderson, D.J. Wagoner and J.W. McPhail.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Laycock-Hobbs Funeral Home of Athens is in charge of arrangements.

Anna Bivens will celebrate her 100th birthday on Jan. 16, 2007.

She was married to the late J.H. Bivens Sr. and has two children, the late J.H. Bivens Jr. and Betty Henderson. She has two grandsons, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She plans to celebrate with a party at McMinn Memorial Nursing Home on Tuesday, Jan. 16, from 2 to 4 p.m. Family and friends are invited to attend through this announcement. No gifts please, just cards.
