Donald Wayne Denton, 72, passed away at Gunnison Valley Hospital, May 28, 1997.
He was born September 17, 1924 in Kiowa, Kansas, to Guy Vernon and Gertrude Eggleston Denton. He married Carolle Celest Plouf, September 26, 1946 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Don, beloved father and grandfather, is survived by his wife, Carolle and their children, Candace Duncan, Manti; Celeste Denton, Cozette Ludvigson, Aura Denton, Chris Denton, Tim Denton, and Glade Denton, all of Sterling; Guy Denton, Logan; Cindy Sampson, Pleasant Grove; Mary Nielson, Nephi; Craig Denton, Salt Lake City. Don had 46 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Don's sister, Annie Burns and sister-in-law, Gertrude Denton Culver, reside in Kansas.
Don, farmer and horseman, served in the cavalry in World War II. He was active in the LDS Church and served as bishop in Chester and Sterling wards. Don and Carolle served two missions in the South African and Uganda/Kenya areas. Don gave service in the Manti Temple as an ordinance worker. Since his conversion in 1946, he has served faithfully in many callings.
Funeral services will be Saturday, May 31, 1997 at the Sterling Ward chapel, where friends may call 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment will be in the Sterling City Cemetery with Military Services. Funeral directors, Buchanan Mortuary.
