Laura B. Harris

Laura B. Harris, of Tellico Plains, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, June 20, 2011.

The widow of Hoyt Harris, she was born to the late Wesley and Florence Beaver on Dec. 15, 1910, in Cherokee County, N.C. She was 100 1/2 years old. She was saved and baptized at the early age of 13 and joined Pleasant Hill Baptist Church in Farner. She was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Betty Harris; her daughter, Beulah Hamilton; one grandson, Jackie Ellis; one brother, Ernest Beaver; and one sister, Mae Edington.

Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law, Howard and Louise Harris, Luther and Bertha Harris and Benny and Vickey Harris, all of Tellico Plains, and Norman and Carolyn Harris of Cleveland; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and J.B. Kirkland, Annis and Ronald Kirkland of Tellico Plains, and Margaret and Gary Bohannon of Athens; 14 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Ruby Lowe of Cleveland.

Funeral services will be 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Biereley-Hale Funeral Home with the Rev. Paul Fritts and the Rev. Derrick Kirkland officiating. Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Unicoi Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Biereley-Hale Funeral Home of Tellico Plains is in charge of arrangements.
