B. George Price 3rd, died Tuesday June 21 in Aiken, SC.

He was born in Walterboro SC February 12, 1914 to B. George Price, Jr. and Ethel Gruber Price.

He was educated in the Walterboro Schools and graduated from Clemson College in 1935.

In September 1941 he entered the army infantry serving in the US and the Philippines until 1946 when he was discharged at the rank of major. He returned to Walterboro and went into the ice cream business and established the Colleton Tile and Concrete Company. In 1951 he was appointed Postmaster, serving until 1977.

He was a former president of the SC Association of Postmasters in 1964 and SC Postmaster of the Year in 1974. He was president of the Walterboro Jaycees; the Chamber of Commerce; the lions Club; and chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Walterboro Schools from 1949-59; Chairman of the Pineland District of the Boy Scouts of America and received the Silver Beaver Award in 1958.

He was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church where he was Chairman of the Official Board, a Lay Delegate to annual conference, a member of the Board of Stewards, the Wesley Bible Class and the Methodist Men's Club.

He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Elizabeth Starr Price and a son Budd G. Price IV.

He is survived by a daughter June Price Breland (Walker), Chattanooga TN and a son H. Frank Price (Judy), Aiken SC; granddaughters, Beth B. Snyder (Greg), Johns Island, Melanie B. Hembree (Wade), Franklin TN, Paige P. McCluskey (Chris), Anderson, and Rachael P. Garcia (Charles), Simpsonville; great grandchildren, Rachel Snyder, Sarah Snyder, Walker Hembree, Will Hembree, Emily Garcia, Price Garcia and Caroline McCluskey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Bethel United Methodist Church conducted by the Rev. Theron Smith. Interment will follow in Live Oak Cemetery directed by Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 at Parker-Rhoden Funeral Home, 117 Paul St., Walterboro, SC.
