OVERLAND PARK, KAN. - Ruth E. Barrow, 81, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Bloomington, died Saturday at Villa St. Joseph Nursing Home in Overland Park.
A teacher, she had taught in schools in Monroe County and in McLean, Va. She was a member of Unionville Baptist Church and Grey Matters Inc. board of directors.
Survivors include her husband, Ed Barrow; one son, Daniel E. Barrow Jr. of Indianapolis; two daughters, Marilyn Smith of Overland Park and Carol Beesley of Leawood, Kan.; one brother, Richard Chafin of Lebanon; two sisters, Madge Childs of Sacramento, Calif., and Getrude Weisheit of Tipson (Tipton); and five grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Helen Hammond, and one brother, Robert Chafin.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Day Mortuary in Bloomington with Brother Donald E. Christy officiating. Burial will be at Little Union Cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Villa St. Joseph Nursing Home or to Kansas University, Medical Center for Parkinson's disease research in care of the funeral home.
Buried in the Little Union Cemetery, Unionville, Monroe Co., Indiana.
