Adolph "Otto" Carlson was born June 13, 1889 and grew up on his parent's farm south of Monett, Missouri in the area known as Kings Prairie. Otto's mother, Augusta, died May 6, 1897, when he was 7 years old. His father, Carl Carlson remarried about 1901 to Christina Lindquist.
In 1903 Carl Carlson sold his property in Barry County, Missouri and moved north to Lawrence County, Missouri in the Verona and Spring River area.
Otto had a good relationship with his stepmother. He and most of his siblings referred to her as Mama. Otto's father, Carl, died November 18, 1913, when Otto was 24 years old.
By October, 1909, Otto was living at the YWCA at Sapulpa, Oklahoma and working at a freight depot. His sister, Nancy, and her husband, Will McNeilis lived at Sapulpa. Otto was still in Sapulpa in May, 1910.
In 1912 Otto was in Cottonwood, Idaho and working at a rock crusher. Otto's brother, Rudolph, lived nearby. In 1913, Otto was attending normal school at Lewiston, Idaho.
In 1914, he was teaching school at Winchester, Idaho.
Otto Carlson met Julia, a cousin of Rudolph's wife, Lucy Weber Carlson and they married. Their marriage place has not been found by this researcher. Julia had a daughter, Marie.
Otto and Julia moved to Carstains, Alberta, Canada where he was engaged in stock raising and farming. He died when he was 28 years old at the Holy Cross Hospital at Calgary, Canada on August 5, 1917.
