Death of a Good Woman
The funeral of Mrs. J.A. Rushing, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W.A. Davis, in Fletcherville, on Sunday night, took place yesterday morning at nine o'clock at the house. Rev. Mr. Parker, pastor of the Baptist church, conducted the services, which were very impressive. At the conclusion of the funeral service the remains were escorted to Laurel Hill Cemetery by a large number of mourning relatives and friends, where they were tenderly laid to rest.
Mrs. Rushing was formerly Miss Jane Lilly and was born in Anson County, N.C., on Jan 2, 1820. She was married to Mr. J.A. Rushing in January, 1846, and after a few years of wedded happiness her husband died. Shortly afterwards, in 1869, she moved to Thomas county, Ga., with her two children, where she has since resided with her daughter, Mrs. W.A. Davis, until Sunday night at ten o'clock when she quietly passed away.
She was a most estimable christian woman and was greatly beloved by all who knew her. She leaves a large number of relatives and friends to mourn her death. To these the TIMES-ENTERPRISE would tender its sincerest sympathy.
