Services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shady Grove Baptist Church for Michael Wayne Cowart, 32, of Leakesville, who died April 28, 1989.
The Rev. Charles Harvey, the Rev. John Brock and the Rev. Joe Small officiated. Interment was in Progress Cemetery in McLain.
Mr. Cowart, a native of George County, was a self-employed logger and a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Jessie Howell, his grandparents, H.T. and Revans Cowart, and his father, Edward Owen Cowart.
Survivors include one daughter, Kimberly Denise Cowart of Lucedale; one son, Joseph Howard Cowart of Lucedale; his mother, Lucy Cowart of Lucedale; his grandfather, Chester Howell of Lucedale; one sister, Dianne Cowart Brown of Lucedale; and four brothers, Danny Cowart of Biloxi, Terry Cowart, Johnny Cowart and Dennis Cowart, all of Lucedale.
Fails Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

LUCEDALE--The body of a man who has been missing for four days has been found in rural George County.
Authorities said the body of Michael Wayne Cowart, 32, was found Tuesday night.
Cowart was last seen Friday morning around 9:30 at Ward's in Lucedale. The victim's pick-up truck was found abandoned and locked near the Pascagoula River Bridge slightly off Mississippi 26 late Friday.
Cowart never showed to pay employees Friday. He was a self-employed logger, a George County native, but residing in Greene County.
Cowart's brothers found his body around 7 p.m in a wooded area near the Pascagoula River between Lucedale and Benndale off a side road of Mississippi 26.
George County Sheriff Eugene Howell said Wednesday that an investigation was under way with the assistance of the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
County medical examiner W.T. Passon says Cowart had been shot but an autopsy was under way.
