Clara was a daughter of Elias B. White & Arthula (Goad) White, born at 12 Mile Twp., in Madison Co, MO, she died in Cedar Creek Twp., in Wayne Co, MO, and was buried at the Beulah Cemetery in Brunot, Madison Co, MO. Clara married (1) Albert Franklin Abernathy, on the 15th of June 1918.

He registered for the draft in September of 1917. Albert was born the 23rd of May 1895 in Wayne County, MO. and died 19th of Jan 1919, 6 months after his marriage, while still in the service. His gravesite shows he was in Company D 69th Infantry, with the inscription "He died for his Country." Clara re-married six months later to (2) Frank J. Sitzes, August 19th 1919. She died of Tuberculosis in 1926, being just 28 years old.

Note: Clara was listed in 1900 & 1910 as Clara E. White in Wayne Co & Madison Co, MO Census Records, but several places show her name as Clora, plus being listed as Cora in one of her half-brother's obituary?

Thank you Dennis & Linda, I was not aware that Clara had been married previously. Darlene White Cole/SuzyQ
