AN AGED CITIZEN PASSES BEYOND
F.A. Belt, Ninety Years Old, Died Monday Following accident
FUNERAL WAS TUESDAY
The passing away of one of the county's oldest citizens is recorded in the death of F. A. Belt, who died Monday morning at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Zeno Phenis, living at the north edge of the city.
Mr. Belt has been in ill health for some time and death came as the immediate result of an accident which occurred July 27, when in getting out of an automobile he fell and broke his hip. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Methodist church with Rev. G. G. Booten officiating, assisted by Dr. W. L Alexander and Rev. Thompson. Music for the funeral was furnished by Mrs. J. B. Brown and Mrs. George Moorecroft with Mrs. H. P. Giger at the organ. The pallbearers were W. A. Dexter, H. B. Green, A. H. Conant, E. W. Richards, C. D Jones and Geo. Jackson. The remains were interred in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Besides relatives and friends here the funeral was attended by Dr. A. L. Belt, Wife and son, of Ft. Dodge; Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Blaine, of Ft. Dodge, and Chas. Belt of Gilmore City.
Mr. Belt leaves two sons and four daughters: Dr. A. L. Belt, Ft. Dodge; Chas. Belt, Gilmore City; Mrs. Zeno Phenis, Toledo; Mrs. C. Hild, Arlington, Washington; Mrs. Lillian Pope, Stockton, California; and Mrs. C. L. Blaine, Ft. Dodge. One daughter, Emma, died in infancy.

Francis Asbery Belt was born in Licken County, Ohio, on September 25, 1827, and at the time of his death had reached the mature age of 89 years and 10 months.
When a small boy he moved with his parents to Kosciuko County, Indiana, where he lived with them until their death in 1848, both dying within a month. In the fall of 1850 he came to Iowa and located in Linn County where he married Martha E. Hawn on August 28, 1851. The ceremony being performed by Rev. G.H. Bowman, founder of Carroll college. To this union was born seven children, five daughters and two sons of whom six are living. One daughter, Emma, died at the age of four years. Mrs. Belt died in 1905 and since that time her husband had lived with his children.
Mr. Belt was converted at the age of fifteen at a meeting held in his father's house, joined the Methodist church and remained a faithful member thru life. He was at various times class leader, Sunday school teacher and local preacher. For faithful service he was ordained a deacon.
