Margaret Jane (Peggy) Pepe, 94, a resident of the Presbyterian Home for CNY, formerly of Deland Dr., Utica, passed away at the home on Thursday, February 26, 2015. Peggy was born in Oneida, NY, on January 11, 1921, the daughter of Ernest and Jennie (Kirkwood) Bates. She was raised and educated in the Utica School System.
On January 1, 1942, at St. Agnes Church, Utica, Peggy was married to Frank D. Pepe. Mr. Pepe died on June 24, 2003. For several years, Peggy was employed at Griffiss Air Force Base in the housekeeping department. She was a member of St. Mark's Church, Utica.
Margaret is survived by one brother, Ernest Bates, of Utica, and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews, notably her nephew, Edwin Ingersoll and his wife, Elaine, who cared for Peggy for several years.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Ruth Crandell, Catherine Phelan and Jeanette Ingersoll, and two brothers, Peter and George Bates.
Her Rite of Committal and Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Utica, at the convenience of her family. Published in The Observer-Dispatch from Mar. 1 to Mar. 2, 2015
