Reared in Indiana and Arkansas. In 1839 he came to Texas, and has been most successful as a farmer since his arrival. Since march 6, 1846, he has been living on his present farm in red river county. He was married September 8, 1839 to Miss Lucinda, daughter of Joseph and Mary (King) Reed, and has had born to him fourteen children: five died in infancy and the living are.... Member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South for over forty-nine years. Highly respected by his fellow citizens and by them has been entrusted with many public offices of trust.
