H/o Joyce L. Mottern (14 Apr 1927 - 17 Aug 2008)

This obituary is from the Monday, June 20, 2011 edition of the Press Enterprise.
George A. Litterer
Lifelong bowler enjoyed woodworking, travel
George A. Litterer peacefully passed in the home he built on the edge of the family farm in Valley Township on Friday, June 17, 2011, cared for and surrounded by his loving family.
George was 86, having been born on Oct. 29, 1924, a son of the late Norman and Martha (Raup) Litterer.
He served in the Army Air Force in the Pacific Theater and was the last surviving member of the crew of the B-24 "Bomber Barons," in which he served as the nose turret gunner during its 33 combat missions over New Guinea, the Solomon Islands and Formosa.
He retired from his employment at the Danville State Liquor Store at age 62, and enjoyed the last decades of his life doing pretty much what he wanted to do — woodworking for family and friends — and traveling with his beloved late wife, the former Joyce Mottern.
George was a lifetime bowler who appreciated the competition and companionship with his fellow bowlers until just a few weeks before his passing.
He is survived by his children: James and his wife, Debra, of Danville, and George and his wife, Veta, of Philadelphia; his grandson: George and his wife, Trisha; his granddaughters: Tonya, Amy and Katelyn; his brother, Philip, and his friend, Inga, of Minnesota; his sister, Ida, of Mount Pleasant Mills; and his extended family: Nathan Reidinger, Madison and Ethan Reidinger, Alicia Long, Alexus Moore and Billy Wegrzynowicz.
George will be laid to rest during a private interment at Columbia Hill Cemetery alongside his wife and parents, and in sight of much of the valley where he was born, raised and lived an honorable and contented life.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Brady Funeral Home. Please send online condolences to BradyFuneralHome.com.
