Although assumed to die in Fremont, Newaygo County, MI, found documents can only confirm that he died in Newaygo County, Michigan. One source states he died in Sheridan, Newaygo County, MI.

Benjamin was actually born closer to 1822/23. In census records, he was 27 (1850), 37 (1860) and 47 (1870). If born 1827, he would have been 14 years old when he married Sarah "Sally" Alvira Coburn (1821-1905) on November 14, 1841 in DeKalb, Indiana.

Served in Civil War/Union: He was a Private in Indiana's Thirteenth Infantry, Company A - Mustered in Nov. 10, 1864, out Sept. 5, 1865, at Goldsboro, NC.
