MRS. REBECCA SILBAUGH
Mother Rebecca Silbaugh, widow of Jacob Silbaugh who passed away seventeen years, was born in Perry county, Ohio, January 19, 1832, and died October 14, 1910, being seventy-eight years, eight months and twenty days old. After an illness of some nine weeks she died at the home of her son-in-law, W. A. Crook, where she was kindly cared for until the last. She leaves four children, some grandchildren and many friends and kindred to mourn her loss. Five children have gone on before. Those living are: Mrs. Louisa Biddison, Mrs. Almina Hays, Mrs. Luella Crook and Warren Silbaugh. In early life she sought and found Christ in an early conversion and God kept her to the last. She was known as a consistent, patient wife and Christian mother, always true to church and home. Having known her for fifty-two years, I know of o spot on her character. She so lived that death had no terrors for her; she felt "to die would be gain." The children have lost a dear mother, the church a good member and all of us a good friend.
Funeral sermon was preached by Rev. G. W. Nuzum, an old pastor, and services conducted by Rev. C. E. Butters at Asbury church on Sunday, October 16, where she was buried by the side of her husband. A large concourse followed her to the grave. She was converted, lived and died in the Methodist church.
