Lois passed away May 30, 2011, in a hospital in Sunnyvale, TX.
Lois McCluer was born December 31, 1917, in Tupelo, Mississippi to the late Joseph Marion McCluer and Retta Lou Wilson McCluer. Her family moved to the Scatterbranch Community, near Commerce, where she attended school. Lois married John D. Mayfield June 5, 1937, in Commerce, and they moved to Wills Point in 1945, to make their home and raise their children, Bobby, Barbara Sue, Carolyn and Molly. Lois worked from 1960 to 1970, in the finance office at Terrell State Hospital and she was the first administrator at Freestate Crestwood from 1970 to 1980. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Wills Point.
She is preceded in death by husband, John D. Mayfield; sisters, Irene McCluer, Eleanor Dickinson and Gladys Weatherford; brother, Kester "Jim" McCluer; great-granddaughter, Nylee Smith; step-grandchild, Jeff Gale;
