KERNERSVILLE - Mrs. Alice Marie Bodenhamer Allred, 83, resident of Kernersville, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 at her home, 2809 Georgetown Road.
A resident of this area all of her life, Mrs. Allred was born on June 30, 1927 in Davidson County to the late C.B. and Kathleen Jacobs Bodenhamer. She had worked at Wayne Trademark until her retirement in 1988. In 1991, she married Russell Allred, who preceded her in death in 2009; she was also preceded in death by a brother, Chester Bodenhamer and a sister, Nadine Burrow. Mrs. Allred was an active member of Oak View Baptist Church, where she helped with Meals on Wheels, Wednesday Supper, Young at Heart, Visitations, and the Social Committee. She was known for her strong faith, love, and care for others. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend who was very proud of her devoted family for their unconditional love shown to her as health declined.
Surviving are her children, Cyndi Warwick of High Point, Steve Hill of Spencer, VA, Terrie Hayes of High Point, and Mildred Brown of Jamestown; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her beloved grand-dog, Mollie.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in High Point with the Rev. Steve Smith and Rev. Mark Hollar officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1801 Westchester Drive, High Point, NC 27262. Special thanks is extended to her family and friends for all their help and support in caring for our Mother. Our gratitude is expressed to Hospice of the Piedmont, her church family and her medical staff.
