William Samuel "Bill" Livingston, age 79, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at his home after a courageous three year battle with cancer.

Bill was born March 23, 1932 in Adair, Oklahoma, son of the late Morton L. Livingston and Edna Mae Briggs Livingston. He graduated from Riverton High School in Riverton, Kansas, and then served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a Survey Section Chief. He returned to Riverton where he worked for the Spencer Chemical Plant (Jayhawk Plant) until 1969. He then worked as a manager of Finley Oil from 1969 – 1975. He then worked for Chevron Corp. from 1975 – 1983 in the maintenance department. He went to work for Hilts Inc. in the sales department in 1983 and retired in 1994.

He was a member of the Joplin Elks Lodge #501, the American Legion, and the VFW.

He had many hobbies including bowling, which he enjoyed for many years, fishing, golf, and gardening, but his favorite "hobby" was spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Cleta Kunce Livingston whom he married October 20, 1961; daughter, Barbara Ferron and husband David of Ramsey, Minnesota; son, Scott Livingston and wife Stacia of Rogers, Arkansas; grandchildren, Christopher Ferron, Renee Ferron, Amber Livingston, Tyler Livingston; sisters, Virginia Whitchurch and husband Fred, Juanita Pennock and husband Rick; brothers, Lloyd Livingston and wife Ginger, and Morton Livingston, Jr. and wife Carol; sisters-in-law, Verda Morgan, and Celia Kunce.

Funeral services will be Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 4:00 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Jill Cameron Michel officiating. Private family burial will be at a later time in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary following the service.

The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
