Politician, minister. No relation to the wealthy Rothschild family. Journalist, minister in the 1930s, Minister of Interior May 10th 1940. Anti-armisitice, anti-Nazi. Escaped to Morocco but was arrested by Vichyists and handed to the Gestapo who sent him to Buchenwald. Was returned to France in 1942 and placed in hands of the French (collaborationist) Milice, who murdered him on July 4th 1944.
