Arland C. Minser, age 89, lifelong resident of Onaway, died at Tendercare Health Center in Rogers City on Friday May 27, 2011. Arland, the only child of Charles H. Minser and Mae (Macklem) Minser, was born in Onaway on January 3, 1922. He attended and graduated from Onaway High School in 1940. Arland served his country during World War II in the Philippines. On October 8, 1949 Arland married Katherine "Cassie" Erratt in Tower.

Arland farmed with his parents and his wife, delivered farm fuel for Covell's Store, worked at Brewbaker's Housing and RV and Brewbaker's Furniture, and was a security guard at the UAW Education Center. He also found time to enjoy himself. He loved to play cards and cribbage, work in the garden, and talk about the history of the area. He enjoyed hunting, traveling, and visiting with friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, playing or doing projects and he LOVED to eat chocolate.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Katherine "Cassie" Minser of Onaway; daughter, Gail Eldred of Sault Ste. Marie, MI; grandson, Drew Eldred of Grand Rapids; and granddaughter, Andrea Eldred of Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Arland also leaves behind many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mark on July 10, 1977.
