Francis Marion Bilbee 85, of Indianapolis, passed away January 13, 2008. He was born July 2, 1922 in Maplewood, Indiana to Dwight and Opal Faulkner Bilbee.
Francis served in the U.S. Navy as a motor machinists mate, and also served in the U.S. Reserves. He received a Silver Star and was a survivor of the U.S.S. Fiske W.W. II sinking. Francis spent over 20 hours in the ocean before he was rescued.
Francis worked as a manufacturing superintendent for Ford Motor Company for 27 years, retiring in 1985. He was a 50 year member of Lynhurst Masonic Lodge, a member of the Scottish Rite, the past president of the Murat Shrine Cast, a member of the Post Road Christian Church and a volunteer for the Indianapolis 500.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2008 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Shirley Brothers Washington Memorial Chapel, 9606 E. Washington St., with services Wednesday, at 10:00 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn L. (Courtney) Bilbee; daughters, Janice L. (Ron) Meyer, Terri (Bob) McCullouch; son, James M. (Julie) Bilbee; grandchildren, Brian Meyer, Lori White, Courtney Larson, Ryan and Tyler McCall and five great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to Shriner's hospital for Children or to the Post Road Christian Church.
