SANDRA BALES WALKER, age 61, passed away on Friday, August 8, 2003 surrounded by her family. Sandra was born, the oldest of 6 children to Kim and Zula Bales on June 15, 1942 in Cameron, Texas. She is survived by her devoted husband of 40 years, Jesse; three sons, Jesse Eugene Walker, and wife Diedre, Kevin Read Walker, and wife Stephanie, Darrell Ray Walker; grandchildren, Laura Sue Walker, Jesse Read Walker, Dana Walker, Ashley Walker; step-grandson, Duncan Thrasher; brothers, John Bales, Lloyd Bales, wife Carolyn, Steve Bales, wife Pam, Bryan Bales, wife Leslie; sister, Julie Vaughn; sister-in-law, Sandy Bales and numerous nieces and nephews. Sandra retired from the Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District after 25 years of service, the last 20 of which she served as secretary to the superintendent of the Cy-Fair district. She was honored in the fall of 2000 by having the Sandra Bales Walker Elementary School named for her. Sandra and Jesse retired to their home on Lake Livingston in Onalaska in 1997. The visitation for family and friends will be held Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Brookside Funeral Home, Champions. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 11th in the Chapel of Brookside Funeral Home, Champions. Graveside services to follow at 3:30 p.m. Monday at Restland Memorial Park, Livingston.
