Thelma Grey, 83, Services are Held
Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 11, 1986 at 1:00 p.m. at the American Legion Hall in Denver, Iowa for Thelma Grey, 83, who died Sunday afternoon at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Denver. Burial was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, rural Greene, one mile north of the farm where Mrs. Grey and her husband, Paul, retired from farming.
Thelma Grey was born December 29, 1902, in rural Greene, the daughter of Allan J. Pringle and Lois (Cheney) Pringle, long time Greene area residents. She attended Greene Community Schools and was graduated from Greene High School.
She married Paul Grey on March 11, 1923 in Waterloo. The couple farmed for twenty-five years three miles east of Greene, before moving to the "home place" three miles east and three miles noth of Greene, where they farmed another twenty-five years before retiring in 1960. They lived on the farm until 1977, when they moved to Denver.
Mrs. Grey was a mother and homemaker, and was devoted to her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Paul, of Denver, a son, Clyde Grey of rural Greene; two daughters, Ellen Patten of Denver and Eleanor Brooksher of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; a brother, George Pringle of Greene; three grandchildren, Paul, Sara and Ami Grey of Greene; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant son, Bobby Allen, and a sister Florence Zurcher.
