James Earl Boyd was born June 13, 1908, to Arthur and Mollie Boyd of Fort Garland, Colorado and passed away at Phelps County Memorial Hospital in Holdrege, Nebraska., Jan 16, 1970. He was reared and educated in the Logan, Kansas area.
He was united in marriage to Goldie Gates of Beloit, Kansas, Dec. 23, 1939. In Nov. 1941 he and his wife moved to Nebraska where for approximately the next 14 years he was engaged to farming and land leveling. The past 15 years he was employed at Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District in Holdrege.
He was preceded in death by his father in 1957; his mother in 1958 and two brothers, Frank who died in 1964 and john who lost his life in the North African campaign in 1942.
He is survived by his wife, Goldie; one daughter* and her husband* of Loomis; two grand-daughters, one son, John of Holdrege; two sisters, Dorothy Gates of Kansas City, Mo., and Edith and her husband, Noel Krouse of Naples, Fla.; one sister-in-law, Bernice Boyd of Phillipsburg, Kansas, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Monday, Jan. 19, 1970 at the First Christian church in Minden, Nebraska, where he had been an active member for many years. The her pastor officiated. Internment was at Pleasant Hill cemetery at Axtell with Freeland Funeral Home in charge.
Pallbearers were Marcellus Larson, Pal Norblade, Alof Norblade, Donald Falk, Wallace Peterson and Jim Bergstrom, Vocalist was Lawrence Strine with Mr. Bruce Villars at the organ.
