Leona D. Bercaw

Leona D. Bercaw, 834 Crew Ave., died Sunday morning at Galion Community Hospital after a brief illness. She was 86.

The daughter of the late Jacob and Katherine (Baldinger) Durtsche, she was born in Crawford County on March 27, 1898.

She married Carl A. Bercaw on Oct. 4, 1919. He preceded her in death on July 13, 1958.

A lifetime resident of Galion, she was a member of the First United Church of Christ.

Survivors include a son, John Henry of North Robinson; three daughters, Mrs. Eugene (Katherine E.) Hardesty of Bucyrus, Dorothy Snyder of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Robert (M. Jean) Carleton of Carlisle, Pa., 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters Leah Wintermuth of Galion and Lois Richard of Bucyrus.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Snyder-Kubach Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Wednesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. John T. Miller. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
