Clarence Achziger, 64, formerly of this area, died Sunday in Paonia, Calif., after a lengthy illness. Born May 30, 1918, in Platteville, he was the son of John Adam and Elizabeth Schneider Achziger.
He was married in May of 1949 to Nona House in Longmont. Mr. Achziger had been a real estate agent and was a member of the United Methodist Church of Paonia. He was Past Master of Paonia Masonic Lodge No. 121, A. F. and A. M., Past Patron of O. E. S., Past Rainbow Dad, Director of Paonia State Bank, a member of El Jebel Shrine, Past Commander of Gunnison Council of Kadosh, and a member of the Grand Junction Consistory.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Emma, and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife of Paonia; son Larry Achziger, Delta; daughters, Peggy Powell, Evergreen, Janine Schuster, Cedaredge, and Kelly Christian, Hotchkiss; brothers, Theodore Achziger, Platteville, Herman Achziger, Las Vegas, Nev., Reuben Achziger, Greeley, Samuel Achziger, Putney, Vt.; sisters, Clara Burback, Denver, Anna Ogazali, Canary Islands, Fla., Edith Vogel, LaMirada, Calif.; five grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Services were held Tuesday morning at the United Methodist Church of Paonia, with the Rev. Paul Millermon and the Rev. Bob Flier officiating.
Interment, with concluding services by the Paonia Masonic Lodge No. 121 A. F. and A. M., was in Cedar Hills Cemetery, Paonia.
