Danish immigrant, arriving at Ellis Island aboard the British ocean liner LUSITANIA September 19, 1913—several months prior to the outbreak of World War I, & less than two years before its sinking by the Germans. Fell in love during the six-day voyage with the woman he was escorting from his hometown to the United States, Maren Nielsen. Married within a year, raising a family in Seattle, Washington. Widowed/remarried/divorced in the 1940s. Six children—three to first wife, Maren Nielsen, & three to second, Verna Mykol. Carpenter by trade, his trademark nailing his cigar butts to frames of houses he helped build. Declared "Sundby, Denmark" as his country of origin per his Petition for Naturalization dated June 25, 1920, & Alfred & Anna Maria (Jensen) Christensen as the names of his parents per his Washington marriage certificate dated June 27, 1914. Born in Thisted, Denmark per prayer card. Died, 83.
