Death Notice
Resident of Rolling Hills Estates for 37 years and California for 41 years, died in her sleep at home Friday, 23 April, 2004. She was born in Boston, MA November 2, 1916 where she completed middle school. Elinor graduated from high school in Charlotte, N. Carolina and attended Duke University. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Don, Colonel USAF (Ret.); daughter, Pamela of Tokyo, Japan, and son, Don, Jr. of Richmond, VA. Her eldest daughter, Patricia, preceded her in death in 1996. Elinor leaves a legacy of love and accomplishment behind. She established eleven warm, loving homes for her family in nine different cities, including Paris, France. One of the most wonderful things she did for her family was to complete the Cordon Bleu cooking school while in Paris. She had a great passion for golf, bridge, mahjong, gardening and judging flower shows as a member of "The Gardeneers", and the "California State Garden Clubs." She took the lead in all of these activities and never gave less than 100% effort to these activities she loved so very much, and which brought her many loving friends. Celebration of her life will be at a Memorial Mass at St. John Fisher Church, Rancho Palos Verdes, Saturday, May 1, 2004, at 11:00 AM. Committal will be at Green Hills Memorial Park, Rancho Paloss Verdes, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to "Healthcare Foundation/Hospice" at the Torrance Memorial Medical Center, Torrance, CA. McCormick Mortuary Redondo Beach.
