She is survived by her husband, Samuel of Lincoln; children, Mary Heberlee of Lincoln, Joseph Ely of Lincoln, Samuel J. Ely, Jr. of Delaware; sisters, Catherine (Earl) Pike of Lincoln, Jeanette (Fran) Meier of Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Adrian, Amy, Sarah, Sally, Shelby, Sam and Joe; two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Michael Edward; brother, Jack Schaffer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at St. John's Catholic Church. Fr. Lyle Johnson will celebrate. Interment will be at 1 p.m. in the Hickman Cemetery. A Rosary will be said prior to the mass at 10 a.m. at the church. Visitation will be 12-8 p.m. on Monday, June 13, 2011, at Butherus, Maser and Love Funeral Home, 4040 A Street, Lincoln 68510. The family will greet friends from 4:30P-6 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the Capital Humane Society.
