Daisy left a family Bible with many notes and records of family members. The Bible was given to her by her son, Louia. It was bequeathed to Louia's son, Louis Hodges, after Daisy died.
This son is my husband. Records of deaths and obituaries are among these items. She recorded most births and deaths of her immediate family and those of the Dobbs' family, as well as many marriages.

Daisy was a strong willed woman that would raise her children to be strong and independent, with plenty of love for them all. She took care of her mother when she was elderly and ill, and then did the same for her husband. She mourned the loss of her firstborn son who lost his life in WWII. She mourned the loss of baby sister who died far too young. Then she mourned the loss of another daughter with cancer, and then a son who died from an automobile accident. She had a big heart, but it was bruised so often with the hardships and losses she suffered.

Yet, this tough woman lived alone for many years, did not drive, but managed to take care of a large home and yard, raise a large garden, grew and canned food, and did all the things she had to do to take care of herself and her place.

For a number of years, there were hobos that rode the train through the valley and they walked quite a distance to Daisy's home, where she had prepared extra food to give them. Then they would walk back to the tracks, hop on the train, and go on their merry way. Never did one hobo take advantage of her kindness.

Daisy loved her grandchildren and kept their pictures close. She had 18 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 7 great, great grandchildren when she died.
