Wallace W. "Wally" Baer

Wallace W. "Wally" Baer passed away May 21, 2011. He was born on April 21, 1919, to John C. and Lora M. (Miller) Baer in Aberdeen, WA. He received his early education in North River Valley, WA. In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps, where he served as Supply Sergeant to the men in the South Pacific until 1945. In 1951, he moved to Wenatchee and went into business. As years went by, he became the owner of several small businesses. He married Lillian "Margie" K. Smith on December 2, 1955. She was also from Wenatchee. The couple made Wenatchee their home. Mr. Baer continued in business until he retired in 1987. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in East Wenatchee since 2007, and previously was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Wenatchee. Through the years, and for the love of his Church and his faith, he became a very active member. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge Concord #273 Aberdeen, WA and Wenatchee Scottish Rite Bodies 32nd Degree, and Wenatchee Eagles Lodge, Aerie #204. His love of life was his Church, the friends he acquired during his lifetime and his family.
His survivors include two daughters, Patricia K. Rowe of Seattle and Adonna J. Baer of Spokane. Wally was one of ten boys, of which one brother, Howard W. Baer of Seattle, age 96, resides. He had two grandsons, Edward D. Maughan of Kent, WA and Mark S. Maughan of Auburn, WA; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1992. We will all miss him deeply and he will remain in our hearts forever.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 26, 2011, from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jones & Jones~Betts Funeral Home. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 27, 2011, at Faith Lutheran Church, 171 Eastmont Avenue in East Wenatchee, and Graveside Services with Military Honors will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park, East Wenatchee. In lieu of flowers, you may choose to donate to the Arc of Spokane, Atlantic House, where his daughter, Adonna, the "apple of his eye," resides.
