John Ray

John Allen Ray, 52, of Cameron, died Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at his residence.

Graveside services will be Friday, Aug. 13, 2004, at 11 a.m. at Cameron Memorial Cemetery.

Dukes-Harley Funeral Home of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.

In case of inclement weather the services will be held at the funeral home.

Mr. Ray was born and raised in Hemingway, a son of Beatrice Ray and the late Ollie Ray.

He graduated from the University of South Carolina.

Mr. Ray taught physical education for 26 years, then retired and was in business for himself.

He was predeceased by a brother, Michael Ray.

Surviving are his mother of Hemingway; his wife, Laura Rickenbaker Ray of the home; two daughters, Jennifer Ray of Atlanta, Ga., and Dana Ray of Cameron; two brothers, Jim Ray of Spartanburg and Ken Ray of Cary, N.C.; three sisters, Donna Day of Jacksonville, Fla., Barbara Ray of Orlando, Fla., and Carol Ray of Hemingway.

Memorials may be made to The Scott Hannon Memorial Foundation, serving children in need, at P.O. Box 3448, Irmo, S.C. 29063.
