Mary Elizabeth Sullivan Akin, 79, of Magnolia, Ky., died Tuesday, May 5, 1998 at her home. Daughter of the late Mom D. Sullivan and Cora Blankenship Sullivan, she was born on Oct. 7, 1918 in Green County, Ky. and was a member of Three Forks Bacon Creek Baptist Church. She was married to James Booker Akin on July 23, 1938, who preceded her in death on March 2, 1991. Survivors include four sons, James Dale Akin and William W. Akin, both of Bardstown, Gary Lee Akin of Falls Church, Va. and Douglas Taylor Akin of Magnolia; two sisters, Fannie Blakeman of Greensburg, and Alice Pierce of Glendale; eight grandchildren: and five great-grandchildren. Funeral was at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home in Greensburg, with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery. The Rev. Gordon McDowell and the Rev, Tim McGuire officiated. Pallbearers were James Dale Akin, Gary Lee Akin, Scott Akin, Todd Akin, William W. Akin, Douglas Taylor Akin and Jimmie Akin.
