Mr. James Booker Akin, son of the late Mr. Leonard Lonzo Akin and Mrs. Minnie Blevins Akin, was born 5 Oct 1916 in Green Co. and departed this life on 2 Mar 1991 at the Flaget Memorial Hospital in Bardstown. He was 74 years, 4 months and 25 days of age. He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Three Forks Bacon Creek Baptist Church, where he has been a deacon for the past several years. Mr. Akin was also retired from the Louisville Gas and Electric Co., where he was employed for 22 ½ years. He united in marriage to Miss Mary Elisabeth Sullivan on 23 Jul 1938 who survives. To this union were born 4 sons: Mr. James Dale Akin of Bardstown, Mr. William Wade Akin of Bardstown, Mr. Gary Lee Akin of Falls Church, Va., and Mr. Douglas Taylor Akin of Magnolia. He is also survived by 2 brothers: Mr. Woodson Akin and Mr. Curtis Akin, both of Greensburg; 4 sisters: Mrs. Eva Gardner, Mrs. Louise Pickett and Mrs. Maudie Pierce, all of Greensburg, and Mrs. Marie Thompson of Corydon, Ind; 7 grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services for Mr. James Booker Akin were conducted at 10 am Mon. 4 Mar at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home with burial in the Bethlehem Cem. Rev. Gordon McDowell and Rev. Milton Judd officiated. Singing was done by Three Forks Bacon Creek Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers were James Dale Akin, William Wade Akin, Gary Lee Akin, Douglas Taylor Akin, David Webb and Ray Thompson.
