Victor Johann Balasic was a circus performer with the Circus Enders in Temesvar, Hungary (today Timisora, Romania) until 1905 when he formed the Balasic Family Acrobatic Act (appearing first as The 5 Merkels, and later as The 5 Balasis) with his wife Paula Enders Balasic and sons, Alfred Balasic and Victor Balasic, Jr. Victor was born in Pozega, Croatia. The family were ethnically Bohemian Germans. Paula Enders Balasic was a circus bareback riding performer with her parents' Circus Enders in Hungary (today Romania) in 1904, along with her sister, Maria Enders Rieffenach. Her family owned the Circus Enders. The family was ethnically Bohemian German. Paula married Victor Johann Balasic in Versecz, Hungary (today Vrsac, Serbia) in 1894. After the Circus Enders closed in 1905, Victor Balasic and Paula formed the Balasic Family acrobats. They performed in Europe and immigrated to the USA in 1923. Her sister had come to the USA in 1922 with her husband Simon A. Rieffenach with their bareback riding act. Simon had been the Ringmaster of the Circus Enders.
