WESTBORO -- Barbara (Soule) Butler, 80, of Westboro, died Friday, Dec. 31, in University of Massachusetts Hospital, Worcester, after a brief illness.
Her husband of 55 years, Robert B. Butler, died in 1998. She leaves a son; two daughters; eight grandchildren; a great-granddaughter.
She was born in New Britain, Conn., daughter of William and Sarah "Sadie'' (Goodrich) Soule, and graduated from the Northfield School for Girls and the Cambridge Secretarial School in Hartford, Conn. She moved to Westboro in 1998.
Mrs. Butler was a secretary-receptionist for McPherson Instruments of Acton. She also worked as a secretary for the Acton Board of Health.
She volunteered for the American Red Cross, Emerson Hospital in Concord and Memorial Hospital in Nashua, N.H. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and the Friends of the Hudson Library in New Hampshire.
Visiting hours will be Monday, 7-9 p.m., at the Acton Funeral Home, 470 Mass Ave. (Rte 111) Acton, MA. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 4, in Mount Hope Cemetery, Central Street, W. Acton. Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Red Cross, PO Box 865, Worcester, MA 01613, the Northfield School, 206 Main St., Northfield, MA 01360, or to the Friends of the Hudson Library, Hudson, NH 03051.
