Claris Ethel Henderson Akin was born April 9, 1921 to the late George Arvin Henderson and Lula Mae Price. She departed this life Monday, July 5, 2009 at the Green Hill Manor, Golden Living, Nursing Home in Greensburg, Kentucky, having attained the age of eighty-eight years, two months and twenty-six days. Mrs. Akin had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church. Besides her parents she is preceded in death by one son, Phillip Darrell Akin; two brothers, Tom Henderson and Rollin Henderson. Mrs. Akin is survived by her husband Robert Akin, her daughter Wanda Akin Estes and her husband Jerry all of Greensburg; three brothers, Vernon Henderson and his wife Lois, Verlon (Johnny) Ray Henderson and his wife Doris, James Clarence Henderson and his wife Linda all of Greensburg; five sisters, Catherine Morrison of Greensburg; Dorothy Arnett and her husband Frank of Campbellsville; Hallie Wooldridge, Mattie Gray and her husband Billy all of Louisville, Ky.; and Frances Gray of Hodgenville, Ky. Three grandchildren, Mashonda Pyles, Bryan Daryle Akin, and Nikki Lee Akin; two great grandchildren, Lily Alexis Akin and Noah Alexander Akin; three step grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren. The service took place at Foster-Toler-Curry Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009. Visitation took place after 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009
Ministers officiating were Dr. Gary Ervin and Rev. Carlos Compton.
Interment took place in Bethlehem Cemetery.
Pallbearers were, John Rucker, Bryan Akin, Andy Estes, Jerry Estes, Allen Bishop and Roger Neagle.
