August H. Hartman, 80, retired farmer, 317 N Van Eps Ave, died at his home today. While he had been in poor health for years, his sudden death was unexpected. It is believed that a heart condition developed along with the feebleness of age.

He had been a resident of Sioux Falls since 1929, coming here from Ben Clare where had moved from a farm near Larchwood, Iowa. He was married to Engelline Sprado, March 11, 1890, at Rock Rapids, Iowa, going to the farm near Larchwood thereafter.

Born August 8, 1862 at Maquoketa, Iowa, he moved to Larchwood as a young man.

Surviving are seven sons: Henry and Charles of Sherman, South Dakota, Grover, Larchwood; William and Herbert, Sioux Falls; Arthur, Valley Springs, South Dakota; and George, Van Horn, Iowa; and seven daughters: Mrs. Theodore Custer, Bruce, South Dakota; Mrs. James Klutman, Luverne, Minnesota; Mrs. Jacob Schipper, Mrs. Henry Coehoorn, Mrs. Edgar Lamb, all of Sioux Falls; Mrs. Albert Jaeger, Royal, Iowa; and Mrs. Marvin Irvin, Long Beach, California; 32 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Last rites will be held at Miller chapel with burial at Larchwood cemetery.
