Services for Truman Royce Chitty, 70, Myrtle Springs, were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, January 19, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton, with Rev. Lynn Mullins officiating.
Burial was in Myrtle Springs Cemetery, Myrtle Springs.
Mr. Chitty died January 17, 2008, at his residence.
He was born March 18, 1937, in Myrtle Springs to Roy Samuel and Mary Bea Stovall Chitty. He was a charter member of Brookside Baptist Church of Myrtle Springs. He served on both the Myrtle Springs and Wills Point School Boards. He graduated from Wills Point High School. He owned and operated Truman's Nursery in Myrtle Springs for 23 years. He retired from Canton ISD after 13 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Michael and Charles Chitty.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Chitty, Myrtle Springs; sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Diane Chitty, Myrtle Springs, and Kris and Sherre Chitty, Wills Point; daughters and sons-in-law, Kim and Michael Murphy, Myrtle Springs, and Karen and Don Schleuning, Terrell; grandchildren, Jennifer Willis, Aaron Chitty, Haley Hollon and Chelsea Chitty; great-grandchildren, Kayla Phillips and Madison Willis; brother, Randall Chitty, Edgewood; and sisters, Sandra Neal and Pamela Minton, both of Quitman, and Cheri Sloan, Houston.
Pallbearers included James Ashworth, Junior Bates, Curtis Golden, Raymond Scott, Bud Miller and Edward Looney.
