Elizabeth Lockwood 'Bette' Lee was the younger of two daughters born to John Paul Lee and Helen Lockwood. That couple was from Denver, Colorado, where they had married at St. Marks Church, in 1910.

By the 1920 census the family had moved some twenty miles north to Weld County. Bette was then born and spent her early years there. By about 1932 the famnily moved west, to Glendale, Los Angeles County, California, where they lived at 705 North Louise St.

In 1941, when Bette was 21, she met and married 23-year old Faye Neil Compton Jr., of Glendale. That young couple raised two children, and eventually settled 15 miles to the south, in the hills of Rancho Palos Verdes, on the southern peninsula coast near the harbor.

Four years later in 1945 Bette lost her mother Helen, at age 60. Bette's father John Paul died a generation later, in 1967 at age 86. John Paul was buried next to his wife at Forest Lawn, back in Glendale.

Bette died in 1978, at age 58, and she was placed here at Green Hills.

Her husband Faye Neil then died six years later, a few weeks shy of age 67, and was placed here with his wife.
