Eleanor, originally Annie Elenora Mayer, was the oldest of three children born to Ole Jens and Ellen (Nelson) Mayer. Her father had six children from his previous marriage. Eleanor was born and raised on a farm just outside of Kensington, Minnesota, in Solem Township, Douglas County. On the 1930 census, she lived in San Pedro, California, with her half-brother Martin and his wife and four children. She married Adolf B Zetterberg. At least from 1935 through 1940, they lived at 1351 West 21st Street, San Pedro (called Los Angeles on the 1940 census). In 1952, they lived at 1368 West 21st Street, San Pedro. She apparently remarried after Adolf's death, to a Mr. Boylan.
