She was the daughter of Nathaniel Ownings and Phoebe LaRue of Lick Creek. She married to William Hart Pewitt in 1862. They had the following children: William Nathaniel Pewitt, Mary Ann Moore, Minerva King Givens Warf, Phoebe Hughes, Margaret McPherson, Isaac Pewitt, Oscar Hartwell Pewitt.

A picture of her, her home, and one of her coverlets and some history can be found in the book "Williamson County: More Than a Good Place to Live" by Rick Warwick. Her mother is featured as well.
