Juan Crisostomo Gonzales was born January 27, 1876 in Arroyo Seco to Manuel Antonio Gonzales and Maria Severiana Archuleta who preceded him in death. When he was 20, his parents relocated to homestead in southeastern Colorado. He decided to remain behind and help support his maternal family which included grandparents, Ramon and Nestora Archuleta, his widowed aunt Maria Gabriela and uncle Santiago. He worked in the mines of Gilman and Leadville Colorado and finally in the Twining/Amizette mines near Arroyo Seco. It was during this time he began using the surname "Archuleta".
He married Lorencita Medina in October of 1907 in Arroyo Seco, who preceded him in death twelve years ago. He is survived by six children: Jose Damian (Eliza) Archuleta, Jose Manuel (Marina) Archuleta, Laura (Gilio) Sanchez, Elizardo (Lupe) Archuleta, Eufelia (Telesfor) Sandoval and Ramon (Ida) Archuleta. Also by two brothers: Jesus Gonzales and Maximiano Gonzales both of Trinidad Colorado. Brothers and sisters who preceded him in death were: Tomas Gonzales, Castulo Gonzales, Vicensita Duran, Morfin Gonzales, Tonita Martinez, Federico Gonzales and Felix Gonzales.
Rosaries were recited and Mass of the Resurrection was held at Holy Trinity Church with interment following at Arroyo Seco Cemetery.
As a founding member of the Sociedad Literaria of Arroyo Seco, he was honored with a final tribute at his wake, mass and funeral.
