Phebe Eugenia Campney was born in Fort Ann, NY in 1841 a few months after her father, Benjamin Campney died from a lumbering accident. She married first, James M. Madison May 7, 1858 in Fort Ann, NY. She had 2 children, Minnie Madison Hutchins, and James E. Madison. James died Mar. 29, 1863 in Washington DC, while serving his country in the Civil War. Then she married John W. Burgess on March 28, 1865 in Fort Ann. He died Dec. 1866, their daughter Clistia E. Burgess Ovitt was born in August of 1866. Phebe married 3rd Lowell Fish, a widower with 3 children about 1869 in Fort Ann. She and Lowell moved after 1870 moved to Indian Lake. They had 7 children, the oldest child born in Fort Ann, and probably the remaining 6 born in Indian Lake.
