John William York was the son of Jefferson E and Lucinda Stephens York. His first wife was Lottie Garrett, second wife was Dollie A Hulse. He had four children, Flossie York with Lottie, and Elsie, Vernon and William Clyde with Dollie. He is buried in what is known as the McIntyre Cemetery to locals but is listed as Pierce Cemetery at Jones Ridge. This cemetery was on the farm he owned when he died. He is the only York buried there. He was my grandfather, my father was his son Vernon who was only four when he died.
