Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, at Crestwood Memorial Chapel for Mr. Clarence S. "Shorty" Allsup, 91, East Gadsden, who passed away Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2008. Brother Frank Samuels will officiate. Burial will be at Crestwood Memorial Cemetery. Crestwood Memorial Funeral Home will direct.

Mr. Allsup was a veteran of the United States Army, who fought in the South Pacific during World War II. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 38 years of faithful service. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Ida Allsup; brothers, Carl, Buddy, Jack, Toopie and Charlie; and sisters, Marie Wilson and Elsie Smith.

He is survived by his loving wife, Monette Hallmark Allsup; daughter, Kathy Machen-Eason; grandsons, Jeremy (Donna) Machen and Andrew Machen; great-granddaughter, Kennedy Grace Stone-Machen; three nephews, Jimmy Smith, Kenneth Crowder and Buzzy Allsup; and two nieces, Brenda Brothers and Debbie Garrett.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to College Heights Baptist Church at 411 Rabbitown Road, Glencoe, AL 35905
